Amber and Wood Candle Holder Redo and More Antlers

In a previous post, I showed a before picture of some short wood and  amber glass candle holders. Well they have been painted and scuffed and here are they are finished! We also found a tall pair that have been refinished as well.

There are the before and after photos. The short ones were done in blue and the tall ones were painted a dark orange. I think they turned out pretty cute.

We also did another set of antlers. I LOVE this pair. It's mounted on a dark walnut stained plaque and covered with a pink geometric fabric and some white rope.

Bunting!

I have a love hate relationship with sewing. I love to make things, but I'm very impatient. So when I decided to sew something I usually pick things that take about an hour to make.

Bunting is a really easy project and they're quick and super cute. I also love that you don't need to rely on a pattern.

I just cut a triangle out of card stock and get to it! I cut 2 pieces of fabric per pennant. From there, I sew up the triangles (right sides facing) and then clip the excess fabric from the bottom so when I turn them inside out, the point turns neatly.
Then all you have to do is press each pennant, place and pin on your bias tape and sew 'er up. Make them in plain fabric or add your own embellishments to the front! If you add things to the front, just make sure you put it on the front triangle before you sew the two pieces together.

If sewings not your thing, there are other ways to make cute bunting. I've also made bunting out of crocheted hearts and triangular granny squares!

Upcoming Projects

My mom and I have been on the hunt for some things to redo. Here's some things we've found so far - I figured I'd post some of the before photos.
Side Table

Plant Stand

Amber Hobnail Candle Holders (We found 2 of these short ones and another set of 2 taller ones)

Brass Horse Head

Found these HUGE antlers on the cheap. We're thinking about mounting them on this tree slice.

I'm so excited to get started on these projects! Hopefully we get them done quickly so I can get the after photos on.

Vintage Deer Antler Makeover

It all started 2 years ago when I picked up a set of deer antlers while out hunting. My mom and I thought at that time it would be so cute to mount them on cool plaques and cover them with fabric.

I think they're adorable. We have some sets on our etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/EmmaBeansandMore

My Vintage Finds

Last summer, my mom and I became obsessed with thrift stores, yard sales, and flea markets. We began collecting various vintage goods that we couldn't resist to pass up. Needless to say, the items added up quickly so we decided to open a shop on Etsy so we could continue to hunt and share all the goodies we find.

Check out our shop here:http://www.etsy.com/shop/EmmaBeansandMore

I have to be honest, and I'm sure those of you who buy and sell vintage will agree, that some things are too irresistible to pass up.
Here are some things that have found a permanent place in my home.
I love crates. Love 'em. The candle sticks I have were all brass that I spray painted. They're actually supposed to be used in my upcoming wedding but until then they've just been hanging around
More candle sticks, cast iron ship bookends and a brass reindeer.

Little ceramic figurines! An owl, cat, and bear along with an old hand carved wooden cowboy and a brass unicorn.
Vintage printer drawer with some vintage antlers. I made the bunting. I've been debating on whether I should put some on Etsy or not.

Little bitty wooden figure in my printer drawer

A close up of my antlers. They came from a deer my grandfather shot in the 60s. My mom made the plaque and covered them with fabric. She made a couple more of them which can be found on our shop. I'm not much for hunting, but I think these are super cute.

This is my favorite piece! My mom found this old library drawer at a flea market for $10! We found the legs from an old end table that someone was giving away for free at a yard sale. We slapped the legs on the drawer and *boom* I got a sweet table! Notice the painted bud vases below-also some future wedding decor.
I guess my collection isn't as cohesive as a theme as it probably should be, but oh well. I love it all! Sometimes you find that one thing you can't pass up and think, "I don't know where I'd put it? Eh, I'll find a place."
I find myself uttering that phrase often.
